"Sure Palin's appearances get lots of viewers..everyone loves to see an accident! I wish they would show her 24/7 because it would just increase the odds of their defeat!
If you want to talk about negative political associations..lets talk about Bush and his familie's association with the Bin Laden family and the fact that he used his power to get them out of the US immediately after 9/11. I'm not a republican or a Democrat, I'm just an American that wants what's best for this country

Garr Reynolds on presentations
The Guru of Presentation Zen
Garr Reynolds
Have a look at his site: presentationzen.com
Garr Reynolds
"Presentation designer and internationally acclaimed communications expert Garr Reynolds, creator of the most popular Web site on presentation design and delivery on the net -- presentationzen.com -- shares his experience in a provocative mix of illumination, inspiration, education, and guidance that will change the way you think about making presentations with PowerPoint or Keynote.
Presentation Zen challenges the conventional wisdom of making "slide presentations" in today's world and encourages you to think differently and more creatively about the preparation, design, and delivery of your presentations. Garr shares lessons and perspectives that draw upon practical advice from the fields of communication and business. Combining solid principles of design with the tenets of Zen simplicity, this book will help you along the path to simpler, more effective presentations.
This event took place on March 21, 2008, as a part of the Authors@Google series."

Here is a presentation by Eric Deis - creator of Beauty and Chaos.
"Beauty and chaos is an online drawing graffiti board / multi-user interactive whiteboard / drawing space that allows you to draw online collaboratively with other people. Scribble out the artwork of your friends. While at the art institute, I produced this interactive whiteboard to facilitate creativity in online distance education. Highly regarded as one of the premier interactive multimedia websites, my interactive art software increases productivity and creativity at art schools. I often use Beauty and Chaos as an example of on-line collaborative drawing in my distance education course, From Drawing to Digital. I produced this graffiti drawing table while at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design AKA one of Canada's most disinguished art colleges. My electronic whiteboard can be used for managing drawings over the internet with health and training agencies, or for distance learning online. Many students at my art school use a computer tablet to draw their interactive presentations in my drawing courses. I have received quite a few e-mails from people asking me about the mechanics of my drawing software, it was made with Macromedia's Flash. I have had offers from the Art Institute of Seattle, and the Dallas Art Institute to purchase my electronic whiteboard for use in web conferencing and online distance education."
Enjoy the interaction.

Forget About Tsunamis, It's The Little Waves That Matter
Micro Trends: They are not the big obvious trends that everybody is riding - such as mobile, online advertising, search, social networking, globalization etc. If you spotted those 10 years ago, great. Now it is too late. Think surfing. If you see the wave building early on, you get a chance to ride it. If you catch it too late, you get crushed.See ReadWriteWeb.com for more

"Announcing the Top 10 TEDTalks
With 50 million views since we started posting video two years ago, TEDTalks have become a powerful cultural force.
To celebrate this milestone, we're releasing a never-before-seen list: the Top 10 TEDTalks of all time, as of June 2008.
With speakers like neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor and global health expert Hans Rosling, the list proves one of the compelling ideas behind TEDTalks: that an unknown speaker with a powerful idea can reach -- and move -- a global audience through the power of quality web video. Links to all 10 talks are found below the video window -- or browse through our Top 10 TEDTalks Theme. Even if you've seen them all, the highlights video below is darn fun."

Welcome -- something for everyone
Welcome to the MMNT 2008 "IT in English" Blog...
hopefully we'll share interesting things about Information Technology and the Internet during our 6 sessions together... and perhaps help you to feel more at ease in English too!
here are some sites that I think might be interesting for you to investigate.... perhaps you could choose something from each of them to present to the group in the coming sessions (and to post to the blog).
1) general news sites
I like the New York Times nytimes.com. My Firefox opens to their front page. Not everyone knows that they include a dictionary on all their articles once you click through to it from the front page. (Just double-click on a word.) There's even a sound file for each word so you can hear how it's pronounced.
And of course the NY Times videos are interesting too... Look in the technology section for David Pogue's videos. Here's one about the iPhone apps... or another about the release of the iPhone 2
In the Politics section you might enjoy the TV commercials. The interactive video features of the debate and candidates' speeches make it easy to decide for whom I should vote in the upcoming election. http://elections.nytimes.com/2008/president/debates/first-presidential-debate.html
the IHT.com site the Herald Tribune... they let you choose your dictionary (English definitions or French) and make words in an article clickable... and the IHT will even read the articles to you! (What do you think of the readers?)
What are your favorite general news sites??
2. IT and technology news sites (in addition to the technology sections of the above)
